Heartbreak For Scotland As Tierney Stretchered Off During Euro 2024 Qualifier

Heartbreak for Scotland as Tierney stretchered off during Euro 2024 Qualifier

Key Defender ruled out of Hungary clash

Tierney expected to return for Real Sociedad next week

Scotland's hopes of qualifying for Euro 2024 have been dealt a major blow after defender Kieran Tierney was stretchered off during their match against Germany on Wednesday. The Arsenal left-back suffered a leg injury in the first half of the game and was replaced by Stuart Armstrong. Scotland manager Steve Clarke confirmed after the game that Tierney will miss Sunday's crucial clash with Hungary. "It's a blow to lose Kieran," Clarke said. "He's a key player for us and he's been in good form this season. "We'll have to assess the extent of the injury but it's not looking good. We'll be without him for Sunday's game at least." Despite the setback, Clarke remains confident that Scotland can qualify for Euro 2024. "We have a strong squad and we've shown in the past that we can overcome setbacks," Clarke said. "We'll need to be at our best against Hungary but I believe we can get the win we need." Tierney's injury is a major blow to Scotland, who are now without one of their most experienced and talented players. The 29-year-old has been a key figure for both club and country in recent years and his absence will be a big loss. Tierney is expected to be out for several weeks, which means he will also miss Arsenal's pre-season tour of the United States.
